WEEK ANALYSIS
Time for Planning
Every Euroleague Fantasy team is now called to evaluate the market opportunities and plan its next moves for upward progress.

After a very promising opening double week—the first one in history—with both pleasant surprises and dangerous traps, the teams of the Euroleague Fantasy are now asked to make the necessary corrective moves and take advantage of the opportunities that arise in the market, ahead of the new gameweek, which starts exceptionally on Wednesday, October 8. This means, of course, that the round will be divided into three Turns, something favorable for internal team management, but which should not affect—at least not this early in the season—the overall planning of your roster.

The obvious goal of the week is to identify the opportunities that exist in the game, the so-called undervalued players, in order to acquire them as cheaply as possible and benefit significantly from them in the process of upgrading your roster over the coming weeks. The faster these players join your team, the better from both a tactical and financial perspective—as well as from a performance one—provided, of course, that they are genuinely undervalued cases and not temporary flashes in the pan.

The first one or two games of a season don’t necessarily tell the whole story about a player, and several of those who stood out during the opening double week will likely regress to their usual levels. These are the so-called “traps” of the week. Naturally, this does not apply to everyone—on the contrary, there are also players who have simply confirmed that their ceiling is higher this year, making their current price attractive compared to what they are expected to deliver.

In the current format of the game, however, each player’s score from the first week (as well as from any single round, for that matter) ceases to have any real value from here on. However well—or poorly—a player performed last week, the exact opposite may now happen, erasing his previous momentum. The “boomers” of Fantasy will remember that in earlier years, players like Reuvers, Osmani, Hall, and other undervalued players would have practically guaranteed further price increases even with an below average performance in Round 3. Today, however, any performance below their cost will cause them to lose credits, even though they still remain undervalued in practice!

For example, let’s take Osmani, who currently costs 7.3 credits and has a Fantasy average of 17.55. If he records just 1 PIR against Partizan, he will lose 0.2–0.3 credits of value. However, his Fantasy average would still be around 12, meaning the ratio 12 score / 7 credits would continue to classify him as clearly undervalued.

Therefore, it’s not always easy to determine who the undervalued players are in the typical financial sense. Even when it seems obvious, a tough matchup might make you hesitant to bring them in. For instance, Nwora, one of the most undervalued forwards with a double-digit price, plays at Fenerbahce, while the Efes players have an away game against Partizan.

All of these are factors we try to analyze on a case-by-case basis below, focusing mainly on the players who started this season exceptionally. As a general overview, if you’re looking to save money, you should definitely look at cheap forwards, as this position currently offers the most interesting mid-tier options. For higher-priced players, the best value can be found primarily among guards and forwards. The centers position remains particular, with only a few truly appealing options, meaning there will likely be less variety among teams in this category.

All of this, of course, also depends on the coach, whose selection will often be a challenging puzzle this season—especially without ALBA. This also applies to the upcoming round, as very few names can be considered “safe” picks (the fact that there were four outsider bonuses in PickMaster Euroleague illustrates that surprises and risks are everywhere). Even if you haven’t yet secured a coach who fits your plans for Round 3, it might be worth taking the risk of sticking with your current choice for one more week. By doing so, you can deliberately use all four of your transfers on players instead, giving yourself a head start in the ongoing roster upgrade process.

The three Turns included in this round usually make internal roster management easier, but as mentioned earlier, that should not currently be your main priority. Your top priority remains proper planning. Another double week follows right after, meaning developments will come quickly, and it’s important to stay in sync with the fast pace of events.

You should, of course, always keep in mind the possibility of unexpected absences or injuries among your players—or among others whose availability may affect your choices—as injuries have already become part of the teams’ daily reality. New additions to the injury list, such as Musa and Fournier, can impact your plans, while an early start to a gameweek can bring additional risks (the flip side of having three Turns).

Finally, we now also present tables containing player statistics, which include not only their own performance metrics but also the defensive stats of their upcoming opponents. These figures are still far too early to have any real influence on your decisions, but we include them both as reference material and to help everyone gradually get into the analytical rhythm of the season.

Let’s dive into the details.

Round 3@ Milano
vs PGs+1.60

Sharing the court with the other Fantasy totem, Nikola Mirotic, doesn’t seem to have affected the American’s performance in the slightest, as he opened the season with two dominant 20+ outings against Žalgiris and Dubai. Once again, he stands among the top options at his position—though since he doesn’t currently carry any “crazy” undervaluation, you can safely circle back to him later, once your roster is more settled.

Kendrick Nunn (Panathinaikos) - 15,7

Round 3@ Baskonia
vs SGs+0.25

The opener against Bayern showcased the level set by last year’s MVP, but his outing versus Barcelona—combined with early foul trouble—brought back some of the issues that had largely disappeared last season. Coincidentally, after playing the Blaugrana last year, Panathinaikos also faced Baskonia next, in what turned out to be a really bad night for Nunn, who remains nonetheless a top-tier choice (perhaps the best among guards in absolute numbers), especially as Panathinaikos continues to search for balance in new roles and he remains the team’s reference point.

Sylvain Francisco (Zalgiris) - 14,3

Round 3@ Bayern
vs PGs-4.05

A 16 ranking average for the Frenchman after the first two games comes from a rather unusual stat line—he’s shooting better from three (55.6%) than from the free-throw line (44.4%) or two-point range (33.3%), while also tallying four blocks on defense! With Williams-Goss and Lo providing valuable additions for Žalgiris, the Fantasy—and real—leader remains Francisco, although at 14.3 credits, he’s not exactly a top-priority target at this stage.

Nando De Colo (ASVEL) - 12,9

Round 3@ Real
vs PGs-4.90vs SGs-0.12

The French veteran started the season with two vintage performances against Valencia and Baskonia, with the 18 PIR against the Basques cut short by an injury in the third quarter after just 12:47 of play. The current status of De Colo is uncertain, but there’s definite interest—especially with Harrison out until November, which could open extra minutes for the Euroleague icon if he’s fit to return.

Justin Robinson (Paris) - 11,6

The Paris rookie didn’t exactly stand out in the opening week but showed intriguing potential, with a 13.5 PIR in just 17:36 minutes, averaging 16 points and drawing 5 fouls. That stat line hints at strong upside that may simply need time to mature, so Robinson could emerge as a future standout at the position once his playing time increases.

Darius Thompson (Valencia) - 11,4

Round 3@ Barcelona
vs PGs+6.95

15 PIR in 20.5 minutes is a respectable ratio, especially for a guard. Thompson has shown his best face in the team’s official games and looks increasingly confident. Still, unless his minutes tick upward, his ceiling will remain somewhat limited. Nevertheless, the “Italian,” with his experience and versatile role in Valencia’s deep backcourt, is worth keeping in mind as a potential mid-term contributor.

Wade Baldwin IV (Fenerbahce) - 11,4

Round 3vs RedStar

The American exploded for 36 points on 13/22 shooting in Kaunas, completely shifting his Fantasy status after a quieter debut against Paris (which still included a points–assists double-double). In any case, Baldwin’s ceiling is clearly higher than last year’s—even in the worst case scenario—making him rightfully one of the premium Fantasy targets for this round and likely beyond.

Nadir Hifi (Paris) - 11,3

Round 3vs Virtus
vs SGs+2.20

Taking roughly 16 shots in 21 minutes across the first two games, the Frenchman has averaged 22 points and 16 PIR. Aside from slightly limited playing time, the rest of the numbers are exactly where one would expect Hifi to be. He might not be the most economical Fantasy pick due to his pure scorer’s profile, but his shooting volume alone keeps him firmly on the Fantasy radar—even if he’s not the most undervalued option available.

Codi Miller-McIntyre (Crvena Zvezda) - 10,9

Round 3@ Fenerbahce

With backcourt absences pushing his minutes past 30, the versatile American’s 16.5 PIR through two games reflects both volume and consistency. Red Star’s form has been shaky, which always adds a layer of risk for its players, but Miller-McIntyre remains one of the few stable options on the roster (even with Yago Dos Santos returning). At 10.9 credits, he could hold solid value heading into the next round.

Omari Moore (Valencia) - 10,7

His Euroleague debut was reminiscent of Michael Carter-Williams’ 2013 NBA arrival—nearly recording a triple-double in Villeurbanne and creating a pleasant headache for Martinez and Fantasy managers alike about which Valencia guard to trust. The follow-up 12 PIR against Virtus cooled momentum slightly, but a look at his stats—0/4 from three, 3/6 from the line, but 26:38 minutes—shows opportunity remains. Moore clearly has upside; 10.7 credits is a relaxed price point, though some inconsistency is to be expected, given his inexperience and internal competition.

Trent Forrest (Baskonia) - 10,6

Aside from the three-point shooting, every other stat has been “there” for the all-around American, who immediately justified the high expectations for this season. Forrest is currently one of the most undervalued guards in Fantasy, and he’s definitely someone you should consider while his price remains accessible.

Round 3@ Partizan
vs SGs+2.35

The Polish swingman’s talent—Fantasy and otherwise—is unquestioned, but he never really clicked in Monaco, falling off the Fantasy radar and therefore starting this season at a low 9.1 credits. Within a week, though, his price climbed by 1 credit, and his performances suggest further growth ahead. Still, Efes’ crowded backcourt means it’s tough for any guard to sustain consistently high Fantasy output. Loyd, however, is no fluke; he’s in strong form since the EuroBasket, and his just-under-double-digit cost makes him a tempting alternative pick.

Antonio Blakeney (Hapoel) - 9,9

At 9.9 credits and a 17.5 PIR average, his price-performance ratio looks excellent, especially with the momentum he’s riding. However, a lack of contributions in other statistical areas will likely lower his Fantasy stock over time.

Xavier Rathan-Mayes (Bayern) - 9,6

The –2 PIR against Red Star was arguably the biggest Fantasy disappointment of Round 2, as the Canadian had raised expectations sky-high after his 26 PIR in the opener with a complete, dominant showing in OAKA against Panathinaikos. The potential is still there, but the 16.5 minutes with Red Star ring a small alarm bell for Rathan-Mayes owners, who must now decide whether to sell or hold. Fortunately, Bayern’s schedule includes two straight home games, so he’s probably not your roster’s biggest problem right now.

20.5 points and 18 PIR in 31.5 minutes—that’s the tally for the Greek-American guard during Olympiacos’ Spanish double week, confirming his fine form and roughly hitting his Fantasy ceiling, especially with backcourt injuries still affecting the team. Sustaining such high Fantasy output may not be realistic for Dorsey, but at 9.2 credits and with a home matchup versus Dubai coming up, he has room to grow and remains firmly on both Bartzokas’ rotation and your Fantasy radar.

Devon Hall (Fenerbahce) - 9,2

The American continues right where he left off last season, when he proved to be a key piece in Fener’s title run. With heavy minutes and excellent overall play, Hall has already increased his price by 1 credit—and there’s likely more to come as long as he maintains top form. Usually more of a team-oriented player than a stat stuffer, he might still reach a new Fantasy level this season within this revamped Fener squad, potentially hitting double-digit value soon.

The youngster’s Euroleague debut in Villeurbanne didn’t live up to the hype he built in earlier games, but the Valencia guard immediately bounced back against Virtus with 23 PIR and 23 points in 21:38. Such ups and downs might actually be the best-case scenario for De Larrea, who continues to hold an active role in the team’s rotation. Given the lack of affordable guard options in lower tiers, he remains one of the most sensible low-budget targets—both for his hidden undervaluation and the limited credits most managers still have at this point.

If there’s one player for whom a 16 PIR in Madrid feels low, it’s Sasha Vezenkov — and that says everything about his Fantasy class, especially since that score came on 3/13 shooting. This “small gift” keeps the Olympiacos forward’s price at accessible levels, just as two home games are coming up — where he traditionally performs even better (26.6 average last year). That means he retains his place on your roster and, quite possibly, the captain’s armband come Friday night.

His 12.9 credits price tag remains attractive, and the absence of Musa from action could indirectly benefit him. This week, however, brings a special matchup against Olympiacos at SEF.

Round 3@ Fenerbahce
vs SFs+2.20

Almost every statistical category for the Nigerian forward in the first two games points to a season clearly above last year’s with Efes. Nwora immediately became a key figure for a Red Star team that’s admittedly thin due to absences. At 11.3 credits (+1 from his initial cost), he’s worth the investment to explore his potential ceiling — just keep in mind that on less accurate nights, his numbers can dip sharply. Still, by month’s end, he looks capable of bringing real Fantasy profit.

Hamidou Diallo (Baskonia) - 10,9

Round 3vs Panathinaikos
vs SFs-6.67

With numbers resembling those of a big man (73.3% on twos, 0/3 on threes, 6.5 rebounds), the American started the season hot, posting two 17 PIR games in roughly 21.5 minutes on average, using his athleticism and touch effectively. Diallo is a unique case — if he adapts properly to the European game and integrates into Baskonia’s system, he can truly shine. His 10.9 credits price remains intriguing; even if you don’t buy immediately, he’s worth close monitoring for a possible breakout.

Round 3@ Real
vs SFs+1.07

The American has turned heads with his exceptional play and style — and his Fantasy performance has followed suit: 16 points, 4/7 threes, 6.5 rebounds, and 19 PIR in 26 minutes on average over the first week! Those numbers are enough to put ASVEL’s forward squarely on your radar, and depending on how he performs next (with an away game at Real), you may want to consider targeting him soon.

Round 3vs Efes
vs SGs-3.30vs SFs0.00

A dynamic start — and in high minutes (nearly 30 per game) — for the German, who hasn’t yet found his rhythm from beyond the arc but compensated with 7 rebounds and 4 drawn fouls to lift his PIR. That’s not always the case with the versatile Bonga, and such heavy playing time may not be sustainable long-term. Still, perhaps the Partizan forward is ready to reflect more of his on-court impact in the stat sheet this year.

After his first two games, the Frenchman sits tied for first in rebounds (11.5 avg) alongside Milutinov, but the Paris big collected his boards in far less time (19:57 avg), boasting by far the best per-40 rebound rate in the competition. That alone gives Dokossi Fantasy legitimacy — and if he can pair it with some scoring or assists (3.5 avg), we might be looking at one of the bargains of the season.

The Valencia forward was one of several standouts for his team during the season’s opening double week, excelling in scoring and drawing fouls — and consequently, in Fantasy output. A strong start from the Canadian, who seemed to fit right into his new team, producing 15.5 PIR in just under 25 minutes. The quality is clear, especially given his cost of 8 credits — and though he might not shine as brightly as others, Mike certainly holds appeal, particularly ahead of Bayern’s two upcoming home games.

Round 3@ Baskonia
vs SFs+3.80

The return of Osman has pushed the Greek forward to a secondary role, though he did open the season excellently against Bayern. With the Turk dominating the small forward position, Rogkavopoulos’s Fantasy ceiling is lower — but that’s also why his starting price was just 7.7 credits. Still, his return to the Basque Country is intriguing, where he might get more than the 11:41 he saw against Barcelona — time that’s not enough to keep his Fantasy relevance alive.

Round 3@ Partizan
vs PFs+0.47

The Turk currently ranks fourth in the EuroLeague in average playing time (31:49), behind only teammates Larkin and Cordinier, plus McKinley Wright IV of Dubai. A player costing 7.3 credits and averaging 30+ minutes is rare, and since Osmani is producing as well, his name deserves a “must-have” tag for the near future. The next step for the Efes big man is to stabilize his away-game performance (last year his PIR dropped by about half on the road), which could elevate him into a full-blown Fantasy breakout season.

It’s been years since Lighty carried Fantasy relevance, yet his strong start — especially his 17 PIR versus Baskonia — didn’t go unnoticed, with over 20 minutes in both games. Round 3@ Milano
vs Cs-2.42

With enviable efficiency, the German has opened the season strongly, even though Monaco’s paint looks more crowded this year—something reflected partly in his minutes (also a function of his frequent early-foul issues). Back-to-back 20s from Theis, even if both came at home, pull some of the spotlight his way—perhaps not for an immediate buy, but if he backs it up in Milan as well, he becomes very interesting. The center pool again doesn’t look deeply competitive, and the truly strong options are few.

Round 3vs Dubai
vs Cs+4.25

In near cruise control, the Serbian giant piled up 44 PIR in the opening double week, first dominating Baskonia’s paint and then staying fully competitive in the inherently tough trip to Madrid. Milutinov was already one of the premium picks at the position relative to cost (+0.7 credits since launch); as long as Hall is still adapting to the Reds, the big man’s stock rises even more. Next comes a home game vs Dubai (which may help Hall more, admittedly), but if you have the credits, the Olympiacos center is an easy pivot.

The Canadian’s explosive showings vs Partizan and Monaco came with two very solid lines—especially considering his minutes held at 16:38 on average—yielding more than one PIR per minute. Kabengele’s debut clearly suggests he can translate his stat profile to the Euroleague level, and Petrusev’s minutes at the 5 haven’t dampened him (so far). That kind of minutes/PIR ratio isn’t sustainable, but the Dubai center planted a strong flag on day one and naturally drew managers’ attention.

The first half against Fener in Round 2 was on the same pace, then his actions limited—without hurting his Fantasy status. Wright is likely the most undervalued center in the mid-price tier and remains one of the most obvious picks at the position.

Round 3@ Baskonia
vs Cs+1.05

A strong Fantasy debut for the Turk with a 20 versus Bayern; the follow-up against Barcelona wasn’t similar, with fewer minutes. His Fantasy stock is tied also to how quickly Holmes adapts to EL pace and how much court time he can earn; Yurtseven’s stat profile is there, and on nights when his minutes climb, he can absolutely draw attention. How often that happens—even in relatively favorable conditions right now—remains an open question.

With Samanic not up to speed yet, the Senegalese big is the better defensive plug, so he’s getting respectable run—and turning it into decent scores.
