Another new season—the 22nd already—is about to begin in the Euroleague Fantasy Challenge, the most popular EuroLeague game, which in recent years traditionally opens its doors early to its eager audience. Last season it even reached a “frightening” number of teams: more than half a million! You can already visit the game’s official page to explore the player market and start shaping your team—just for practice for now, of course, since there’s still nearly a full month until tip-off.

Naturally, BasketStories could not miss this occasion, as it has once again created its own league for all its dedicated fans. The BasketStories Private League is traditionally one of the biggest and most competitive leagues in the entire Euroleague Fantasy (and the one that has been taking you directly to the Final Four for years!). You can find it through the relevant league page/box within the game (after creating your team). The league code for direct search is 89652-FXZZN. Detailed information about the prizes that are awarded every year in this league will be published in a separate article.

The game rules are more or less familiar: each participant can create up to three teams worth a maximum of 100 credits, consisting of 10 players plus a coach. The option of 3+1 transfers, with the coach change being optional (and the possibility of swapping a fourth player instead), remains in place, while the captain’s score appears to return to being doubled, after last season’s …detour at x1.5.

As for the game’s mechanics and rules, it seems there are no dramatic changes from last year, based on the official instruction and rule pages, though one significant adjustment is the division of the season into two parts. The main championship now applies only to the Regular Season (38 rounds), while everything seems to start fresh in the postseason, with the Play-In, Playoffs, and Final Four stages—where unlimited transfers are allowed anyway.

Regarding this part, in the Regular Season the unlimited transfer rounds unfortunately remain, giving managers the chance to completely rebuild their squads at specific points in the season. These come after Rounds 5, 11, 17, 24, 28, and 34—one extra this time due to the increased number of Regular Season rounds (38).

The season’s novelties don’t lie so much in gameplay, but rather in the introduction of more competitions. First comes the Trophy Cup, running directly within Fantasy, creating head-to-head matchups based on team progress. Then there’s the Game Predictor, which resembles a simplified version of BasketStories’ PickMaster. These games also bring new chances for prizes, which overall will be more numerous this season thanks to the two-phase structure.

As for the player market, the early opening of the Fantasy season naturally leads to some inconsistencies—a traditional element of the game. We’ll be analyzing all this in the coming weeks leading up to the season tip-off, through the BasketStories columns. During this time, we’ll also have the chance to familiarize ourselves with the game and study market opportunities, partly through the first, limited number of friendly and official matches of the teams this year—limited also because of EuroBasket.

So stay tuned to BasketStories for the most complete coverage of the game, while the BasketStories Private League is already waiting for your teams for another thrilling season.

Devotion.
