The number 4 loves order, control, dedication, and discipline — principles that SK ROI tries hard to uphold.
From nadir to zenith for SK ROI in this double-round week, as our team collected 68.75 points with a budget drop of 1.6 credits at the end of Round 4, marking a career-low performance, only to bounce back with 212.70 points and a 3.4-credit budget increase at the end of Round 5 — its best gameweek in three years since the title season.
Given the fantasy turbulence visible across social media, it’s safe to say everyone more or less understands why a gameweek went well or not. For the past week, the names Saras, Sasha, Nikola, and Dan were largely responsible for both the slump and the rebound between rounds. In Round 4 they combined for just 16.70 points, while in Round 5 they exploded for 153.10. That’s the nature of fantasy life — and since the EuroLeague moves fast, it sweeps along not only players, coaches, and staff, but also those of us who analyze and write about it. So rather than dwell too much on the recap, let’s go straight to Round 6, which starts today, Wednesday, across three turns.
With the peculiarity of the reset — which, as a site, we can’t say we’re big fans of — we start with just 103.3 credits to build a brand-new team. With a two-round horizon (which hasn’t exactly worked out well for us lately), we’re choosing Sasa Obradovic as coach, as he seems to have revitalized his Crvena Zvezda players and now faces Baskonia and ASVEL at home.
As the title suggests, the team will be built on four pillars — four key players, expensive yes, but consistently delivering around 10 points above their price value on average, while also having a relatively favorable schedule. These will be Vezenkov, Milutinov, Petrusev, and Nwora. Surely we haven’t reinvented the wheel here, but team differentiation this week will likely depend on how many and which of these premium players managers decide to include.
Beyond that, we’ll look for lottery tickets and interesting cases to fill the rest of the roster. For the second center spot, we’ll take the risk on Dessert of Efes, who, after Papagiannis’ injury, will share minutes with Kai Jones. The last forward slot goes to Garuba, who, following Fernando’s expected departure, will split time with Tavares, while also offering a captaincy option for Turn 1 against the green-painted Maccabi frontcourt.
For the guards, the remaining budget isn’t much, but we’ll bet on two Partizan players — Washington and Lakic — who should see increased roles after Carlik Jones’ injury, as well as coach Span’s favorite Strazel and Hollatz, effectively Bayern’s second point guard, who’s getting his minutes but hasn’t (yet) turned them into PIR.
We end up with a typical 1-3-1 formation today, with Garuba as captain for the gamble. Petrusev, Nwora, and Strazel enter the battle tomorrow, with the rest joining in Turn 3.
