SK ROI shattered into pieces!

I honestly can’t find the right words to describe the fiasco of the opening round of the game. I barely managed to open the Euroleague app after 12:00 noon, and I won’t hide from you that the thought crossed my mind to stop playing altogether. I don’t know if it upset me more that the other two teams I manage touched or even passed 200 points, while the main one — the one I write about and put on display — was humiliated with 113.30 points, or that all the h2h choices made (except Milutinov vs Nebo) — disregarding 30 days of study — failed miserably. With the budget reduced by 0.4 credits, we’ll have to move forward and plan for the next round.

As if the poor performance of players and coach wasn’t enough, one more of my mistakes came to confirm that “when it rains, it pours,” since in the team that went up on the site’s socials, starting guard was supposed to be De Larrea, but the demon of the keyboard decided Ouattara should go in (most likely the last save wasn’t made).

There is no point in making a full recap of the round with player-by-player reviews, since that would only lead to depression... We’ll just single out the Olympiacos duo — and nothing else. And on that duo we will rely again, to gather up the wreckage and, changing tactics, try to build something competitive.

The choice of coach Spanoulis was clearly a failure, but another reason for bringing him was for him to stay and serve the Round 2 plan, covering the need for four player transfers. Does he have a certain win? Honestly, after yesterday’s performance, I’m not at all sure. But we are obliged to take the risk in order to fix the unfixable of the roster.

In a horizontal change that cost 0.9 credits and 22 points, Rathan-Mayes will come in for Sterling Brown. The next move, to secure funds, is selling Diallo, who neither disappointed nor impressed in Monaco’s wreck. In his place comes the cheap Davidovac, who looks like he’ll get some minutes due to Rivero’s injury and Moneke possibly shifting a few minutes to the 5. At the same time, Ouattara will be removed to bring in Moore, the player who lost the diagonal dilemma vs Diallo last week, which cost us 0.6 credits and 13.3 points. The final change, exactly fitting the credits, will be the removal of Samanic — though I believe our paths will cross again — and the arrival of coach Itoudis’s favorite big man, Dan Oturu, who impressed in the premiere.

Once again with a 6–4 split, SK ROI goes into Round 2 with a 1–3–1 formation and Sasha Vezenkov as captain, but this time with a slightly stronger bench than yesterday — at least on paper.

Until the lineup submission deadline, stay tuned for possible last-minute changes to our plan, on the accounts: @BasketStories, @Andreas_Zeppos, and this season also on our English account @BasketStoriesEN.

Good luck to everyone! #RoadToAthens2026 #TogetherWeFight
