The Euroleague curtain rises for the 2025–26 season, and #ELFantasy returns more explosive than ever — ready to sweep us into a dance of tactics, inspiration, and unpredictable twists! The fans of BasketStories, incurable romantics of European basketball, are preparing to dive once again into the deep waters of the Fantasy fight, with the passion to reach the top burning like a flame that never goes out. The premiere, as always, is a riddle wrapped in mystery, full of traps but also hidden opportunities waiting for the bold to discover them.

With the BasketStories crew’s articles and the Datacenter (later in the season) as a compass, plus a bit of intuition’s magic, managers are called to build their first roster, navigating injuries, friendlies, and unexpected surprises. The new season brings fresh talents, revamped teams (20 now, but who knows for how long), and coaches aiming to write history.

Dear friends, the journey begins — and SK ROI returns more determined than ever to carve its own path toward the renovated OAKA, host of the 2026 Final Four! The first rounds are a canvas full of possibilities, where every choice can be the catalyst for glory or a lesson for the next step.

The game itself hasn’t changed much, except for the return of the captain’s double score. Euroleague, though, managed to throw us straight into chaos from day one, scheduling a double round. Without further words — since, as the wise saying goes, “the court speaks louder than words” — let’s set up our team for Round 1!

Building the dream, we start from the coach — the captain who will steer our ship through the storms of opening week. Friendlies gave us a taste, but the truth hides in the 40 minutes of an official game. Feeling I’ll need four changes by Thursday leads me to coach Spanoulis, who looks to have the most favorable path through the first two rounds.

Now to build the C line… Many choices here, truly, for all budgets. Until last night Nebo had locked the starting C spot, but news of Lorenzo Brown’s absence (his main feeder) gave me second thoughts. A bit of emotion and a bit of thinking about Round 2 (T1), which gives me some safety even against Real if moves are needed elsewhere, push me — at least until the early afternoon — to bring in Nikola Milutinov. Alongside him, I’ll take a long-term bet on Samanic, a non-flashy pick with a lot of talent, who had an excellent preseason and looks set to grab most of Baskonia’s minutes this year. This double move carries risk, since our bigs face each other, but for now I’ll take it.

The F spot may have been the easiest to decide, as my own MVP Sasha Vezenkov comes in to stay and lead this year’s push for the top. Next to him, Bayern’s emblematic leader Lucic — not the ideal opener, but he follows with a manageable schedule and I wanted him locked in early. The next move is Diallo of Monaco, coming off excellent friendlies, playing in T2, and fitting well in the distribution. Finally, to complete (and not just that), Harrison of ASVEL, who will be another long-term gamble for our team.

Unfortunately, with how the roster is built, we’re left with only 27 credits — so by necessity the G line will be our weakest. I’d love to bring in Rathan-Mayes right now, but I’ll wait one round, since I don’t want two Bayern players at OAKA. So our main G will be Sterling Brown, who seems to be getting minutes and shots in Partizan’s new version. Alongside him will be De Larrea, as in most #ELFantasy teams. The experienced Ouattara follows, hopefully contributing in Paris’ debut season, and the roster closes with Radosic — on the logic that he might play 2–3 minutes in a Zvezda backcourt decimated by injuries.

With a 6–4 distribution, and both centers playing today — against each other — SK ROI will line up for T1 with a 1-2-2 system. Captaincy goes to our leader, Sasha Vezenkov, with the confidence that we won’t need to rethink tomorrow.

#ELFantasy is a marathon full of twists, and the premiere is only the first turn. With the double round right ahead and the always incomplete injury updates, stay tuned for possible last-minute changes on @BasketStories, @Andreas_Zeppos, and, starting this year, our English account @BasketStoriesEN.
