A Critical Week
With the game’s new format, reaching the first Unlimited Transfers Round with positive momentum is absolutely crucial.

Another double week is upon us in this Euroleague marathon — though its relentless pace feels more like a sprint than a long-distance race.

The peculiarity of this week lies in what comes right after it: the 6th round, the first of the season where all managers will have unlimited transfers at their disposal. And we all know how vital it is for those moves to come as part of a well-thought-out plan — not as reactions born of pressure or panic after poor results. With a two-round planning horizon, our goal now is to build our team to finish Round 5 in the best possible shape — both in score and in credits — before reevaluating everything and preparing a more stable roster that can ideally last until Round 11, when the second Unlimited Transfers window opens.

In our second review article, titled Find the Pacemakers, we had already hinted that our planned moves for this week were largely decided, pending only the final updates. We had noted that Rathan-Mayes and Hall would make way for Baldwin and De Larrea (We should, however, keep an eye on how Wilbekin’s return may affect roles and minutes in Fenerbahce’s backcourt.)

At the coaching spot, Scariolo will be replaced by Jasikevicius, with a two-round horizon in mind. Even though we generally avoid long-term coach picks at this stage of the season, we believe Fenerbahce will secure two home wins against struggling opponents — Dubai and Bayern — especially after the surprising defeat to Red Star.

For the final change, Samodurov will be released, as he’ll be out for the next 3–4 rounds due to injury. His place will be taken by his teammate Kalaitzakis, who is expected to earn decent minutes. This last move may not prove particularly impactful, and we’ll still wait for any late news to see if a slightly better alternative might emerge — though that’s easier said than done at these price levels.

The roster distribution between the two turns stands at 6–4, and as always, Vezenkov remains our captain. Hopefully, he’ll deliver another strong performance, as there’s no obvious alternative in Turn 2 worthy of taking the armband this time.
